Powertechnix was incorporated in 2004 to service the growing demand for critical power and cooling solutions and provides a range of professional services from survey and planning to design to delivery, installation, service and maintenance.

A BACKGROUND IN DATA CENTRES

Powertechnix are specialists in the design and delivery of resilient, reliable and efficient power and cooling to data centres and to other buildings that have a need for continuous power or intensive cooling.

Our experience in Data Centre specific Electrical and Mechanical Engineering extends back to the early 1980's. Since then we have been involved with the development of data centre infrastructures supporting ICL System 35's in the early 1980's, Big Bang in the Early 1990's, the Internet revolution in the late 1990's and more recently the introduction of high density power and cooling solutions for co-location and ISP services. The equipment we discuss on a daily basis includes Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Modular Cooling, Aisle Containment Planning, Power Generation, Power Conditioning, Power Distribution, Static Switches, Harmonic Filtration and PFC.

We are commonly designing into Tier Classified infrastructures utilising N+1 or N+N or even A+B system architectures and also the latest designs of modular build and scalable roll out formats of infrastructure topology.

Recent advancements in cooling technologies, including hot / cold contained aisles and modular in row cooling units, provide attractive alternatives to the energy hungry technologies of old.

We've see the introduction of large scale rotary and static UPS, generation, heat reclamation, synchronous co generation and most recently modular architectures for power and cooling systems, contained airflow aisle configurations and free cooling air conditioning systems.

We have observed and participated in the change in demand from resilience to reliability, then through availability and concurrent maintainability, to energy efficiency and carbon reduction.
